Green Bean Supreme Casserole

Tender green beans in a creamy sour cream based sauce, mixed with cheddar cheese and topped with French Fried Onions. A delicious side dish for Thanksgiving and Christmas.

Equipment

  • 1 Saucepan, Medium
  • 1 Casserole Dish 2.5 Litre Capacity

Ingredients
  

  • 2 Cans of Green Beans
  • 1/2 Medium Onion, Diced
  • 2 tsp Garlic, Minced
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 250 grams Sour Cream
  • Montreal Steak Spice, To Taste
  • 2 cups Cheddar Cheese or More, Shredded
  • French Fried Onions, To Cover

Instructions
 

  • Add butter to saucepan and melt over medium heat. Add onion and garlic & sautée until onion is softened.
  • Add steak spice to taste, reduce heat and add sour cream, stirring until it bubbles.
  • Add green beans and mix thoroughly.
  • Spray the casserole dish with non stick spray.
  • Place half of the green bean mixture in the bottom of a casserole dish, then cover with half of the shredded cheese. Add the remaining green bean mixture and cover with the remaining cheddar cheese. Top with a layer of French fried onions.
  • Bake in an uncovered 350 degree oven for approximately 30 minutes or until bubbly and lightly browned on top.

Notes

This can also be made with fresh green beans, making sure to par boil them first.
