I grew up in Northwestern Ontario with friends whose parents or grandparents immigrated to Canada from many different countries. I had the pleasure of being exposed to food from a wide range of Ethnicities including Slovakia, Poland, England and Japan to name a few.

These are my collection of recipes that I have acquired over the years from various sources – including friends, family and cookbooks or blogs where I have adapted recipes to our taste. Special thanks to my sister Anita who is an amazing cook and loves to create awesome dishes to satisfy, my Mom who always fed us well and shared our family recipes, my dear friend Karen who enjoyed food as much as I do with her very special Christmas Baking and generations of her family recipes.

How this Blog Came to Be

As a busy Mom of two amazing girls with a demanding career, I needed a way to organize myself in order to ensure we always had a healthy meal on the table at dinner versus fast food takeout. This journey began with me spending a lot of time reviewing cookbooks and my hand written recipes to develop a menu that I could easily follow and not have to think twice about what was I cooking for dinner. I made sure to pick the items that I regularly liked to eat and enough of them that I didn’t tire of eating again as it had been so long since it last, I was looking forward to it. See the menu here:

I felt very accomplished with the daily decision making taken care of but the next struggle came with finding the time to make my grocery list to ensure I had the ingredients needed to make the meals. I decided to typed the recipes out in a Blog so that I could access it at the grocery store while shopping to ensure I picked up everything I needed. My next step was to create the following free blog that I could access from my phone whenever I went shopping. You can see that first attempt here:

I created that in 2012 and have continued to add my recipes over the years. It has made it very easy to share a recipe with friends or family when they have asked for a copy.

All of the pictures here are taken by either myself using apple devices or my daughter who is an amateur photographer. It is pretty obvious who took what. If you are interested in using any of these photographs, feel free to reach out by using the following form:
